The flights have been booked, the bags have been packed, we’re all ready for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2014! Our schedules while staying in Edinburgh are chock full with performances, sightseeing, and truly hands on classes.

We are taking classes such as “Structures of the Edinburgh Fringe” and “Artist Representation”. These classes have integrated hands on learning about how performances are created and venues run at the largest arts & culture festival in the world. This year there will be nearly 50,000 performances happening all around us. Not only will we be seeing performances inside venues throughout the city, but there are street performers, galleries, lectures, tours. The term street performers may sound dubious, but they draw in crowds of hundreds for up to 45 minutes performing everything from circus to bagpipes. The diversity of performers, shows, and venues are one of the highlights of the festival. 

Edinburgh is home to many historic monuments. We will be visiting the extraordinary Edinburgh Castle, which dominates the skyline in the heart of the city. An important part of the trip is not only learning about the festival, but also immersing ourselves into the Scottish culture. I know I have a page long list of sightseeing expeditions that I can’t wait to cross off.

2014 marks the largest Edinburgh Fringe Festival in the history of the Fringe, and we can’t wait to seize this enormous opportunity. Fringe University is ready to take on the Edinburgh Fringe and get #UnBored!

In one and a half week’s time, Fringe University will have set off for the eclectic and and brimming city of Edinburgh. Our group is made up of 11 students, teachers, and professionals who will be traveling to experience and learn about the ins and outs of the renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival. As we count down the days, there seems to be more and more to do. Updating passport photos, changing in our dollars for pounds, stuffing our suitcases until the seams nearly explode. I would say that the nerves are beginning to set in, but honestly we’ve been readying ourselves for this trip for awhile. For the past month we’ve been working on many different projects to prepare for our stay in Scotland - each more exciting than the next! 

10 days until lift-off and we couldn’t be more excited!!
